Program Details
Our program emphasizes strength-based and culturally sensitive approaches to psychotherapy, based on a biopsychosocial approach. A rich, multi-disciplinary context prepares well-trained health professionals who can work in a variety of OMH approved mental health care settings ranging from mental health and behavioral health programs to community agencies, and medical settings.
Medical family therapy is a hallmark of the program, and our faculty are well recognized for their innovations in the development of integrative and interdisciplinary approaches to treatment. Opportunity for students to work closely with clinical and research faculty provides students a broad range of experience with a diverse client population. Students will receive education and training in the major approaches to individual, couple, and family therapy conceptual and clinical models, theories of individual and family development across the life cycle, and basic quantitative and qualitative research methods.
