Clinical Mass Spectrometry and Toxicology
Our Clinical Mass Spectrometry and Toxicology Laboratory uses advanced liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LCMS/MS) to perform screenings for drugs of abuse, immunosuppressant drug testing for transplant patients, blood lead testing, vitamin testing and drug identification, as well as identification of common and obscure substances.
The testing in our lab is used to identify and prevent numerous conditions, including the following:
- Organ transplant rejection
- Lead exposure
- Rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis
- Premature birth
- Cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, abetalipoproteinemia, night blindness
- Neuroblastoma
- Catecholamine secreting tumors
- Hypertension
- Drug ingestions
- Compliance to medication prescribed
- Drug treatment programs
Services
The Toxicology Laboratory is able to provide the following tests:
- Immunosuppresants (Tacrolimus, Sirolimus, and Cyclosporin)
- Blood Lead
- 25-hydroxy Vitamin D
- Vitamin A and E
- Urine Vanillymandelic Acid (VMA) and Homovanillic Acid (HVA)
- Urine Drug Screens (unknown)
- Urine Drug Confirmation Testing (opiate, benzodiazepine, cocaine, amphetamines, PCP, THC, methadone, propoxyphene, and barbiturates)
- Urine Fentanyl, qualitative
- Urine Buprenorphine and metabolites, quantitative
- Urine THC semiquant
