Faculty Leadership
Dr. Whitney-Miller is Department Chair and the Frieda Robscheit-Robbins Professor, and Vice Chair for Anatomic Pathology at URMC, where she also serves as Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.
She completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and earned her medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. She joined the University in 2009 and previously served as Director of the gastrointestinal pathology service and Director of Surgical Pathology, where she initiated several patient safety initiatives including bar code scanning in the histology laboratory. She looks forward to expanding these initiatives to the remainder of the laboratory, as well as working with the junior faculty on career development.
Her research focuses on HER2 overexpression in GI malignancies. She is also involved in interdepartmental collaborations with colleagues from the Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Dr. Burack is Vice Chair for Clinical Operations in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Burack’s specialty is in Hematopathology, a unit which works closely with Wilmot Cancer Institute and Pediatric Oncology to evaluate and diagnose lymphomas, leukemias, and related disorders.
Dr. Burack's research interests include the molecular mechanisms of lymphoma progression and development of molecular methods to refine diagnostics, particularly of lymphomas and leukemias.

Dr. Jennifer Findeis-Hosey received her BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology with Honors in Biology from Bucknell University in 2002 and her M.D. degree from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2006.
She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, during which time she spent an additional year of training performing research in the area of Thoracic Pathology. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Surgical Pathology at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Findeis-Hosey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with a clinical practice focused on Gastrointestinal Pathology.
Additionally, she serves as Vice Chair of Educational Programs for the department. In this role, she brings together her passion for pathology education with her commitment to the growth and development of the department. From serving as Director of the Explorations in Pathology program for high school students, to Director of Undergraduate Pathology Curriculum for the School of Medicine, Dr. Findeis-Hosey is genuinely interested in engaging students into pathology.

Dr. Zhang is Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Enterprise Strategy at the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She serves as Director of Clinical Chemistry Division, Clinical Mass Spectrometry and Toxicology Lab, and the Medical Director for Clinical Trials.
Dr. Zhang earned her PhD in Biochemistry and Bioinformatics from the University of Minnesota, her clinical chemistry fellowship training at the Harvard Medical School and received her MBA from The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. She has served in numerous leadership positions for U.S. and international organizations, including Board of Directors and Treasurer for American Association of Clinical Chemistry for which she was the founding Chair for the Mass Spectrometry and Separation Sciences division, and the global lab quality initiative for the Asia Pacific Region.
Her research interests include clinical applications of mass spectrometry, toxicology, test utilization, transitioning of late phase discovery and -omics biomarkers to clinical services, and biomarkers for early diagnoses using -omics technologies.
