Critical Care Division

 

Our academic health system is the tertiary care referral center for half of New York state. UR Medicine spans 7 counties and includes 8 hospitals, 2 skilled nursing facilities, 11 urgent care centers, and 45 primary care practices, and continues to grow. We are a Transplant center, along with Level 1 Trauma and Burn center. Our Critical Care Medicine trained anesthesiologists staff the Neuro-medicine ICU, Kessler Family Burn Trauma Intensive Care Unit, Surgical ICU, and the Cardiac ICU. As a referral center, our expertise is the management of the most complex patients in the region.

UR Medicine is also a leading center for solid organ transplantation nationally. We have one of the busiest liver transplant programs and the only live donor liver transplant program in upstate New York. And our outcomes are among the best in the nation. We are also one of the largest and busiest LVAD and ECMO centers in the country, and an ELSO ‘Gold level’ center of excellence for advanced life support.

Our institution is distinguished by a supportive, collegial atmosphere. Our Critical Care division maintain excellent working relationships with faculty and staff from Departments of Medicine and Surgery. Critical Care Medicine is a team sport!
