Reasons to See Us

The most common reasons your child would be referred to our office is for the evaluation of a heart murmur or because your primary care physician suspects a possible heart problem. It is important to stress "heart murmur" is not a diagnosis, but simply means an extra sound coming from the heart. Most heart murmurs in children are normal.

Other reasons for referral may include:

• Chest pain
• Family history of heart problems/disease
• High cholesterol
• Passing out/dizziness (Syncope)
• Palpitations

We treat:

• All forms of congenital heart diseases, such as atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD), tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), and transposition of the great arteries/vessels (TGA/TGV)
• Disorders of lipid metabolism, such as high cholesterol and/or high triglycerides
• All acquired heart diseases, such as Kawasaki disease, rheumatic fever, myocarditis, and pericarditis
• All heart rhythm problems, such as supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), ventricular tachycardia (VT), and heart block
