Pediatric Nephrology Clinic

The Pediatric Nephrology Clinic offers diagnosis and treatment of numerous conditions affecting the kidneys, such as:

  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • Kidney stones
  • Lupus nephritis
  • Kidney failure (dialysis)
  • Kidney transplant
  • Hypertension

What to Expect

During the visit, your child will receive a complete physical examination, including vital sign measurements (weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse) and urinalysis. A consultation between the physician, parent, and child will result in a better understanding of the underlying symptoms associated with your child's kidney problem. Our physicians and nurse practitioners ensure that a suitable amount of time is given to each child's conditions, which may include x-rays and blood tests. This allows us to develop an appropriate plan of care.

Follow-Up

With chronic kidney disease, it is necessary to regularly monitor patients' laboratory studies to determine that the correct medications and diet are effectively controlling the disease. Timing of visits can vary. Depending on your child's situation, we may recommend monthly, quarterly, or yearly visits. Follow-up with kidney disease is crucial, as physicians continually check for problems not easily recognized by the parent.
