Pediatric Palliative Care

Our Pediatric Palliative Care Team is a compassionate group of professionals who support families through the ups and downs of a child’s illness.

Often referred to as Palliative Care, we prefer to use the term “Supportive Care” because that is what we do – provide support for children and their families. As a specialty, we work closely with a child’s primary medical team but we do not replace them.

Our team addresses the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual suffering that families often experience after a difficult illness or diagnosis. We provide comfort, relieve suffering, and walk with families as they navigate a challenging time with their child.

Who We Are

Pediatric Supportive Care works best when it includes an interdisciplinary team. Our team includes:

  • Doctors
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Parent Advocate
  • Bereavement Coordinator
  • Pediatric Chaplain
  • Social Worker
  • Child Life Specialist

What We Do

  • Relieve pain and other symptoms like nausea, anxiety, and irritability
  • Talk with families about hopes, fears, and concerns for their child
  • Provide an extra layer of support to children and their families
  • Assist with communication between families and providers
  • Help families find their way in a very complicated healthcare system
