Resident Core Rotations
Clinical assignments for Radiation Oncology residents are based upon 3-month rotations on eleven individual services, accounting for approximately 42 of the 48 months of training. Five to 6 months of dedicated clinic time is afforded each organ system, providing residents with optimal exposure to the entire spectrum of oncology patients and their treatments.
While the majority of these rotations take place at the Wilmot Cancer Center, which is housed within the University of Rochester Medical Center, residents also rotate to the nearby Highland Hospital Cancer Center and the Pluta Cancer Center, where they gain experience in treating gynecologic and breast cancer.
Each rotation is managed by a single physician faculty member who is able to give the resident assigned to his or her service the one-to-one individual attention needed for an enriching educational experience.
