JULY 2024:  Strike Planning – Site Preparedness & Strategies for Success

DATE/TIME: July 30, 2024 @ 10:00am – 11:30am
DESCRIPTION: This session will review hospital preparations and best practices for pending union/labor actions.  The course provides guidance to hospital leadership, mid-level management and others on developing a needs assessment, organizational structure and 10-day plan prior to strike date.
At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to:
- Effectively oversee strike preparations at their site(s)
- Create a 10-day strike countdown plan incorporating the following areas: Staffing & Training, Site Security, Site Operations, Site Logistics, Regulatory Requirements, Leadership Command & Control, Communications, Documentation Requirements
- Incorporate current site Emergency Management Plans into labor/strike action operations

AUGUST 2024: High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCIDs), Emerging Diseases (EIDs) and Special Pathogens (SPs): Early Interventions and the Impact on Healthcare

DESCRIPTION: This session will discuss High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCIDs), Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs), and Special Pathogens (SPs) with focus on the following:
- Interventions that can be instituted or applied to hinder persistence of infectious spread
- Early Adaptation and Empiric Isolation Precautions for Patients Suspected with HCIDs, EIDs, and SPs
- Employing the I3 (Identify, Isolate, Inform) Principles to Reduce Impact to Service Delivery
- Minimizing Staff, Patient, and Visitor Exposure to Potentially Infectious Individuals
- Considerations in Patient Care and Patient Well-being / Experience
- Trends in Global Outbreaks and Persistence of Risk Associated with International Travel
- Recent Developments and Infections of Concern (Not Fully Inclusive)
