Robert Bennett, M.D. Retires After 30 Year Career at Highland

Robert Bennett, M.D., Medical Director, Highland Emergency Observation Unit and Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine recently retired after serving Highland Hospital for more than 30 years. Since 2010 he has served as founder and medical director of Highland’s Emergency Observation Unit.

Highland Names Three Physician Leaders

Matthew Bresler, M.D., M.B.A., Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology, Department of Anesthesiology, University of Rochester Medical Center and Highland Hospital, has been named Chief of Anesthesiology; Benjamin F. Ricciardi, M.D., FAAOS, Associate Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, has been named Highland’s Chief of Orthopaedics,  and Lawrence Saubermann, M.D., gastroenterologist, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine has been named Medical Director of Endoscopy.

A “Fresh Start” for Patients

Highland introduces the Fresh Start Menu for inpatients, one piece of Highland’s ongoing effort to address root causes of chronic illness. The menu is a suggested four-day rotation of whole-food plant-based breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No specific diet order is required for patients to be able to order these items. Handouts are available to educate patients about the field of Lifestyle Medicine, and the connection between diet and health.
