Our Investigators
Allen Anandarajah, MBBS
Research interests: The role of imaging studies in the evaluation of inflammatory arthritis; early rheumatoid arthritis with particular emphasis on outcome measures and co-morbidities; erosive osteoarthritis of the hand; the IQ-LUPUS Project which focuses on a patient-centered approach to improve health care for lupus patients
Jennifer Anolik, MD, PhD
Research interests: The mechanisms of B cell tolerance in systemic lupus, bone marrow B cell development, and B cell regulation by the innate immune system and of the bone compartment in lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Both translational approaches and murine models are utilized to study the diversity of B cell roles in systemic autoimmunity.
Jennifer Barnas, MD, PhD
Research interests: Cellular interactions within the renal microenvironment of lupus nephritis and how this contributes to the pathophysiology of human systemic lupus
Theresa Bingemann, MD
Research interests: Clinical trials centered around food allergies.
Maria de la Luz Garcia-Hernandez, PhD
Research interests: Understanding the role of DC-STAMP in osteoclastogenesis; defining the value of DC-STAMP as a marker for progression from psoriasis to psoriatic arthritis
Benjamin Korman, MD
Research interests: Cellular and molecular processes leading to fibrosis in scleroderma
R. John Looney, MD
Research interests: The role of senescent cells in organ damage in lupus and treatment targets
Norman Madsen, BMBS, MSc
Research interests: Using ultrasound technology to better differentiate early rheumatic disease patients from the healthy normal population and as an outcome measure in clinical trials.
Javier Rangel-Moreno, PhD
Research interests: Understanding the complex interactions among immune cells that take place in target tissues; defining and understanding the distinctive and strategic organization of immune cells in the peripheral tissues and how they contribute to the local induction of pathological or protective immune responses
Christopher Palma, MD, ScM
Research interests: Investigating potential new therapies for granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis
Christopher Richardson, MD, PhD
Research interests: Understanding the role of B cells and antibodies in autoimmune skin disease; understanding the pathogenesis of cutaneous lupus
Christopher Ritchlin, MD, MPH
Research interests: Understanding the mechanisms that underlie pathologic bone resorption and new bone formation in psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis; understanding the mechanisms that are responsible for bone marrow edema as recorded on magnetic resonance imaging scans in inflammatory arthritis
Ummara Shah, MD
Research interests: Investigating potential new therapies for systemic lupus erythematosus; the IQ-LUPUS Project, which focuses on a patient-centered approach to improve health care for lupus patients
Darren Tabechian MD
Research interests: Clinical research in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and gout
Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Program
View Dr. Tabechian's Clinical Trials
Ralf Thiel, MD
Research interests: Using high frequency ultrasound, power doppler and 3D ultrasound to identify tophi in gout as well as synovitis and enthesitis in gout, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis; sonographic diagnosis and outcomes assessment of crystal arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathy
