Kenneth DeHaven Arthroscopic Surgical Skills Laboratory
The Kenneth DeHaven Arthroscopic Surgical Skills Laboratory (KDASSL) was original funded and named in 2011 by the 1st Chief of Sports Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedics, Kenneth E. DeHaven, M.D.
The KDASSL Core is composed of two service programs including:
- Human cadaver skills laboratory course instruction under the direction of Gregg Nicandri M.D., Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation
- Ex vivo research on human cadaveric tissue under the direction of Edward Schwarz, Ph.D., Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation

Mission Statement
The primary mission of the KDASSL Core is to facilitate human anatomical education and surgical skills training for students, residents, fellows and attending physicians; and provide efficient and high quality ex vivo imaging, biomechanical testing and histology services to investigators throughout the Center for Musculoskeletal Research using cadaveric tissue.
