Association of Minority Residents & Fellows (AMRF)
The Association of Minority Residents and Fellows (AMRF) was created in 2014 by Dr. Charity I. Oyedeji and Dr. Ugo Awa, two exceptional former Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (Med-Peds) residents. These innovative leaders envisioned a safe space where underrepresented minorities in medicine would build a community amongst themselves to create a sense of belonging, feel heard, seek and provide mentorship, and address structural racism including experiences of implicit bias and microaggression in the healthcare system. Since its inception, AMRF has grown exponentially to include medical (MD/DO) trainees who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM) across all fields and specialties at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
