Child/Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Social Work
(Unit 4-9000)
This is a short-term diagnostic crisis unit for children, adolescents and their families. The average length of stay on the inpatient unit is 3-10 days. The units provide crisis stabilization for patients who are typically suicidal or homicidal. Social Workers are part of an interdisciplinary team that meets daily to review cases and discuss treatment planning. They complete social work assessments during the initial admission, present cases at team meetings or discharge meetings, and ensure appropriate discharge plans are in place.
