"Dinner with a Doc"

The Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) at the University of Rochester is an active and dedicated student-run group that hosts monthly lunchtime lectures throughout the academic year. These lectures are led by a variety of local family docs and include sports medicine, OB, geriatrics, community health, research and global health. Extracurricular activities include “Dinner with a Doc” in the home of a Family Medicine faculty member, and workshops—including procedures, and community service opportunities. Special meetings for third and fourth year students include opportunities to discuss specialty selection, interviewing, and mentoring opportunities. The FMIG leaders also work together with AMSA for Primary Care Week.
