William Scarfe, B.D.S., D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Scarfe is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and President-Elect of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR). He has served as Treasurer of the AAOMR, Scientific Editor of the Oral Radiology Section of Oral Surgery, Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology, as well as Vice President of the International Association of Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. Scarfe has published extensively on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) including recent consensus statements on general and specific use guidelines and discipline specific applications of cone beam computed tomography. He authored two chapters on CBCT in the last three editions of the most popular undergraduate dental radiology textbook, Oral Radiology: Principles and Interpretation by White and Pharoah and is editor of the newly released reference textbook, Maxillofacial Cone Beam Computed Tomography: Principles, Techniques and Clinical Applications published by Springer.
Dr. Scarfe presents internationally, as well as nationally, and is active in research on the clinical applications of CBCT imaging. He has been Director of a University-based intramural private practice in CBCT imaging since 2004.
Sharon Elad, D.M.D., M.Sc.
Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, NY
Dr. Elad is a Professor and Chair of the Division of Oral Medicine at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH), at the University of Rochester. In addition, she is the Clinical Chief for Hospital General Dentistry at the University of Rochester Medical Center Strong Memorial Hospital. Dr. Elad is currently the Chair of the MASCC/ISOO Mucositis Study Group (MSG). She is also the section head for GVHD and for Viral Infections in the MASCC/ISOO Oral Care Study Group (OCSG). During her years of service in the MSG and OCSG leadership, as well as on the ISOO Board, Dr. Elad took a lead role in the development and publication of several guidelines and position papers. She has published extensively in professional journals, co-authored multiple book chapters and is an editorial board member in several medical journals. Dr. Elad is most proud of the Honorary Diplomate Award she received from the American Board of Oral Medicine.
