Outpatient Clinic

Our outpatient behavior clinic is available for patients with an intellectual or developmental disability, or autism spectrum disorder who receives primary care through the Complex Care Center The team is comprised of faculty, board certified behavior analysts, and registered behavior technicians. The outpatient team prioritizes the functional assessment of behavioral challenges with a focus on teaching adaptive skills. This is intended to be a 6-month stabilization clinic for patients with complex needs. In some cases the patient may be seen by the team for up to a year before being discharged back to community providers.

Who We See

Patients with neurodevelopmental and/or mental health challenges who experience behavioral events due to medical, developmental, or mental health needs.

What We Do

  • Functional analysis and functional behavior assessment to inform behavior plans
  • Skill assessment to inform skill acquisition programs
  • Direct implementation of skill teaching across domains of leisure, communication, adaptive skills, social skills, and many others
  • Medical desensitization
  • Staff and caregiver training
  • Support with discharge planning

Location and Frequency of Services

  • Sessions take place in the behavior or medical clinic at the Complex Care Center.
  • Sessions are available Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Patients may be seen 1 to 3 times per week for 60-minute sessions.
  • Patients are required to have staff or caregivers present during sessions for training (as appropriate based on individual assessment).
