Our Mission
The mission of the University of Rochester Adult Sickle Cell Disease Program is to provide comprehensive care to adolescents and adults with sickle cell disease throughout the Upstate New York. Our team works diligently to provide biopsychosocial care to persons with sickle cell disease throughout their lifespan.
Clinical Services
Our program is staffed by providers, nurses, and staff who are committed to caring for persons with sickle cell disease. Our services include:
- Intensive pediatric-to-adult transition support
- Onsite infusion services for medication administration, hydration, and pain management
- Acute and chronic sickle cell pain management
- Comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease Management
- Integrated inpatient care – Our team provides care to patients while they are hospitalized to ensure quality and compassionate care.
- Referral for advanced therapies, such as bone marrow transplantation
- Access to onsite specialized services, including:
- Physical therapy
- Care management
- Clinical pharmacist
- Onsite pulmonology
- Respiratory therapy
- Social work
- Behavioral health
- Dentistry
- Registered dietician
